Statistics
Popular college courses like Nursing, Accountancy, Business Management, Marketing and Commerce, Mass Communication are NOT included in the DOST Scholarship offerings.
When it says “at UP System only” this means that the student must enroll in a UP campus that offers said undergraduate course. This also means that the students must passed the UPCAT Entrance exam of the University of the Philippines PLUS the DOST Scholarship Qualifying Exam.
This is similar scenario with the degree tagged as “at DLSU only”. The student must enroll in a De La Salle University campus offering the course like “Manufacturing Engineering Management- Mechatronics & Robotics”
If the school is not identified as either UP, ADMU, or DLSU, then the DOST passer and qualified student can enroll in any school that meets any of the following requirements:
a.1 State universities and colleges (SUCs)
a.2 CHED identified Centers of Excellence (COE) or Centers of Development (COD) for the S&T programs covered under the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarships
a.3 Institutions with FAAP Level III Accreditation

Maricel Pardillo says
Hello. I am a DOST 2018 passer. I wrote Civil Engineering as my course in my application form and wrote Cebu Technological University as the school to which I intended to enroll. However, I found out that Civil Engineering must be taken at UP. Can I change my course instead? Or, pass a letter saying that I will be pursuing my study in Cebu Technological University. I chose it because it is a state university and its tuition fee is less. Please help me. I look forward to your response. Kindly please email me at maricelpardillo234@gmail.com or contact me at 09238990841. Thank you very much.
iSensey says
Hi Maricel, go to the DOST office sa Cebu para maayos yung case mo. Or try to message the DOST SEI FB page for your query.
Michelle Tesado says
Hello, I’m also a 2018 DOST passer. I would like to take up Nursing, but it is not listed in the allowed courses under the DOST scholarship. My I ask what are the steps I may go through to proceed to my desired course? And it is possible?
iSensey says
Hi Michelle, based sa rules ng DOST SEI scholarship – Qualifiers MUST pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences, and science and mathematics teaching. Hindi kasama ang Nursing course.
Eileen says
Hi. My daughter is a DOST-SEI 2018 passer, and wanted to proceed to Medicine after finishing her undergrad studies. She passed the Nursing entrance exams at WVSU, and is still waiting for the UPCAT results with Public Health as her 1st choice. Since Nursing is not allowed in the list of courses for the DOST scholarship (although she is sure in pursuing her Med schooling), she has no choice but to shift to BS Biology as the case may be. I hope DOST can reconsider cases like this as Nursing is also preparatory to Medicine.
Thank you.
Sofia says
Sorry but it is not possible to reconsider when it comes to priority courses.
Sin Besa says
Bakit hindi po kasama ang nursing?
iSensey says
Hi Sin, we also don’t know. It’s best to inquire direct with DOST for the reason.
Ryan Ereno says
Would a DOST passer be given a chance by a University wherein he took the entrance exam already but apparently Nursing is not covered by the scholarship, would they be given a chance to select a course which is only covered by the scholarship?
iSensey says
Hi Ryan, it depends on the University where you took and passed the entrance exam. We recommend that you visit the College Secretary or the Admission Department for your concern.
Danilo Sy says
Asked ko lang po kung anong schools/suc na accredited ng dost passer dito sa region 4-A laguna .
Trina S. Nogoy says
Hello po. Can I still avail the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship if I were to take up Bs Pharmacy in Saint Louis University, Baguio City, even though it is not a CHED identified Center of Excellence (COE) or Center of Development (COD) course in that university? Saint Louis University is neither state university nor one of the institutions with FAAP Level III Accreditation. However, I think it is one of the DOST-SEI identified network institutions.
Another question po, I can’t remember if I indicated a specific course in my application form for the DOST-SEI scholarship program. Is it possible for me to change my choice of course if ever I wrote a different course (in the form) from my final course to take in college?
I am looking forward to your response! Thank you!
iSensey says
Hi Trina, you need to consult directly with DOST SEI office for your query on Saint Louis University.
On your second concern, this is based on personal experience, yes you can change the course as long as the course you plan to take is listed as Priority course of the DOST for the Merit scholarship; Pharmacy is okay. We suggest that when you contact DOST, you also mention about your plan to change course just to be 100% sure.
Lance Arrevalo says
Is it possible to have a DOST and SM scholarship at the same time?
Alex says
Hello po, is it okay to take the DOST scholarship exam even if one is undecided between a prioritized and a non prioritized course?
meneriza peralta says
ask ko lng po kung anong accredited schools ng dost dito sa nueva ecija kung ang course ay pharmacy? thank you po
