The Social Security System is implementing an increase in its member contributions effective January 2023. If you have a PRN generated last year 2022 for any months in 2023, know that the amount reflected therein are now ‘wrong’ or obsolete due to the changes in MSC bracketing and amount of contribution. iSensey recommends not to pay the PRN generated last year for this year, instead create a new PRN.
But if you have already paid the SSS PRN for January 2023, February 2023, March 2023, etc., you will need to contact SSS to make additional payment as necessary to meet the new required contribution for your chosen MSC bracket.
Need to Update PRN Generated in 2022
This advice is for SSS Voluntary and OFW members – generate a new PRN with the chosen new amount of contribution for 2023.
First, login to SSS members website. Do not use the app because lately there are issues in the app like missing contribution records, etc. Go to www.sss.gov.ph login page.
Second, in the navigation menu, choose “Payment Reference Number” then “Contributions” then “Generate PRN”. You will see there the old/existing PRN. Ignore it, instead, choose next the button “Generate PRN”.
Third, enter the new details of the contribution you want to pay . In the dropdown menu, choose ‘Voluntary’ if you are a voluntary member or “OFW” if you are an ofw member. There is no option here for “Self-Employed”.
Fourth, choose the applicable period, month start to month end. Example: if you are paying only for the 1stmonth of the year, then choose “from” January “to” January 2023 as end.
iSensey recommend here to pay quarterly, semi-annual, or annually. We suggest this to save on service fee or transaction fee if you are paying your SSS contribution via eWallets like Maya, Gcash, etc. There is a P15 transaction fee like in Maya, so if you are paying your contribution to SSS monthly, you will pay a service fee of P180 for 2023, assuming there is no fee increase.
P15 x 12 months = P180 total service / transaction fee for the whole year
But if you pay quarterly, you will only pay P15 x 4 quarters = P60 transaction fee for the whole year. The total fee is even lesser if you pay semi-annual or annual.
Fifth, on the ‘Contribution’ section, select the premium or your chosen contribution. The amounts in the drop down menu already reflects the premium increase in SSS beginning January 2023. You may want to see the NEW 2023 SSS CONTRIBUTION TABLE on a separate post on iSensey.
Sixth, OPTION – you may want to add contribution to the WISP PLUS program. This is not required though. Our team will be sharing the advantages of joining and contributing to the WISP PLUS program on a separate post.
Seventh, you will see the total amount. If you are paying quarterly, the total amount will be x3 of the chosen premium.
Eight, submit request.
Now, if you generated a PRN for January 2023 but you have an existing PRN for this month, the old will be overridden by the new one by clicking on “OK”.
To check if the new PRN generated okay, click on “Go back to PRN”. You will then see that the old PRN is gone and the new one you just generated is the available one to pay.
If you visit an SSS branch to pay your contribution, there is no transaction fee.
We hope this iSensey SSS sharing for 2023 helps you. We will try our best to write another post about what if you already paid a PRN for 2023 but the amount is the old contribution which leads to wrong posted contribution on the SSS record.
