Unionbank ATM Correct PIN but says ‘WRONG PIN’ – Online or Mobile Banking Access

If you are a Unionbank ATM card account holder, you might encounter the issue wherein you input the correct pin but you got a ‘wrong pin’ warning when you tried to access your account via Unionbank online banking or via mobile banking.

As in without a doubt you entered the correct PIN, you double checked-it, your tripled-check it. You even input it slowly to make sure the system accepts your PIN one at a time.  But still the result is wrong pin. Why? What happened?

Correct but Wrong Pin Unionbank of the Philippines

This happened to me yesterday. Yesterday morning, I was able to accessed my Unionbank ATM EON account via online banking without any problem. That afternoon, I again checked my account via online to check if the international remittance I am waiting for has arrived.

The first time I tried, I input the correct pin, I am 100% sure. But got the wrong PIN error from Unionbank system. So I tried again, gahhhh, same thing happened. Wrong PIN but it is correct!!!

After a few hours I tried to login to Unionbank again, very slowly, I input my PIN. I was even looking at the Unionbank EON PIN Mailer so I won’t be mistaken. Still wrong pin; 3 pin tries failure so I was locked out of my account.

*I did not change my PIN after getting the PIN Mailer. I used the default pin given for my account. This is a bad habit; you should not follow. I will change my PIN when I have a chance to go to a Unionbank ATM machine.

REPORTING PIN ISSUE TO UNIONBANK

So immediately I called up Unionbank hotline. I used their Domestic toll free number so I won’t incur any long distance call charges.

International Toll-free number of Unionbank PH: IAC+800-82772273

Domestic Toll-free number of Unionbank of the Philippines: 1-800-1888-22-77

I was able to talked with a CSR, and she explained to me that wrong pin notification happened during instances when you tried to access Unionbank mobile or online banking access with intermittent connection. It could be when you entered your pin and click on ‘submit’, your internet is so slow that the system wasn’t able to capture the characters on time. Which leads to wrong PIN. Which could lead to access locked-out after 3 pin failures.

UNIONBANK ATM Online / Mobile Access Locked Out Due to Wrong Pin

If your EON or any other Unionbank atm card account got locked out due to wrong pin. Visit any branch of Unionbank to file a PIN-resetting request. Or if you are far from a Unionbank branch, call them up. Refer to above for the Universal ( International ) Toll-free number as well as Domestic Toll-free.

The CSR will ask your personal details to establish you as the verified owner calling about a legitimate issue. They will also ask you about the last transactions on your account – credits, debits, withdrawals, etc, as a further security check.

Once your identity is verified, the Unionbank Philippines CSR will create a request for you to reset PIN. He or she will then forward your request to the correct department.

Unionbank will email you in the email address registered for your account. But this will happen after 2 to 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays).

So in my case, I called them up for PIN-reset request yesterday Saturday, April 23. The CSR said to expect an email with link to reset my pin come Tuesday or Wednesday. I will update this post when I receive that reset PIN email from Unionbank.

I also asked the CSR if I can go to an ATM machine and do withdrawals, she said I can still withdraw cash from ATM since the blocked access is to online / mobile banking.

Since I am expecting an international remittance, will it arrive it my bank account? The CSR said it will, because again I am only locked-out of using the Unionbank mobile / online access only, and am not locked-out from the account itself. So I can withdraw, receive remittance, and do deposit transactions still.

Have you experienced being locked-out of your ATM Card due to wrong PIN?

I hope my online and mobile access gets restored asap. :/
