New investors can earn in the Philippine Stock Exchange by buying low and selling high shares of stocks.
Last May 11 (Wednesday) I bought 100 shares of JG Summit at P87.90 per share. Factor in the stock broker’s commission, other fees, and VAT, total price of the Buy Order for JGS was P8,815.94.
The market was upbeat after the smooth election and presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement that his administration will continue the macro-economic policies of the present administration. Stock gainers led stock losers, one of those companies that benefited from the upward movement of the PSEi was JG Summit.
So yesterday May 13 (Friday), I decided to sell the same JGS shares at P91, I bought at P87.90 per share 2 days prior. Why? Because I really want to experience selling shares on COL Financial trading portal, also I was rearing to publish a How To Sell Stock Shares via COL online trading, lol. And more importantly, there is profit to be had for selling, although I have to say, profit margin per share was really small. Tiny, in fact, oh well I only had 100 shares hehe. 😀
BUY ORDER
SELL ORDER
Php 9,027.65 – Php 8,815.94 = Php 211.71 NET PROFIT
After my sell order was executed, the JGS stock price reached P91.80, I stop monitoring this stock for the day after that baka mag sisi ako na napa-aga pag benta hehe. But that is the way of the stock market, you cannot predict with 100% accuracy the next price movement, it can go up or down. What you need to make sure is that when you sell, you will take profit. Hindi yung sell at magsunog lang ng pera.
I just checked my COL dashboard and saw that this particular stock closed at P91.10. High was at P92, Low at P88.30.
How much did I earned for my first completed trade? Net profit of P211.71 for selling 100 shares of JGS.
I bought the shares at a low price and sold the same shares at a higher price than buying price. This is what they call timing the market, one way to earn in the stock market. Another way to earn is through dividends given by a company to its shareholders, at the company management discretion. Once I experience receiving dividend, I’ll share about it on iSensey.
What’s the process in a SELL ORDER?
- Login to your COL Financial account at colfinancial.com.
- Go to your Portfolio, by clicking TRADE >> PORTFOLIO
- Select the stock that you want to sell, click on the “Sell” button beside it.
STEP 1 of 3: Sell Order
When the sell order page load, you will need to enter the following:
Stock Code: This will be automatically filled if you click the stocks’ “Sell” button on the Portfolio page. If you went direct to the Order page, you need to input the stock code of the shares you want to let go.
# of Shares: You can enter all the current shares you have or just a part of your uncommitted shares. You cannot sell more shares than what you actually have!
Price: The price that you want to sell your shares.
I originally entered the price of 91.10, but I changed it to the last successful trade price which was P91 per share.
ON THE STOCK SELLING PRICE
If you really want to sell your stock shares during the same trading day, it might be best to choose an ASK PRICE that is equal or at least very close to the highest BID PRICE.
In my case since I want the sell order to be completed within the day, my ASK PRICE was only P0.05 higher than the biggest BID PRICE. I was confident that a buyer will took up the ASK PRICE I’ve set on my shares. True enough, my sell order was accepted and posted at 10:30 AM, by 10:35 AM my order was executed. Amazingly fast! 😀
STEP 2 of 3: Authorizing Sell Order
After you enter the stock code, number of shares, price, you can now click PREVIEW ORDER. A similar page to this will load for you.
At this point, you need to check out the amount listed in “Total Order”. Selling stocks entails fees so make sure that at the end of the transaction, there is net profit waiting for you.
*Compare how much you paid buying the stocks, and the total proceed in selling your stocks. Continue with the sell order only if potential selling proceed less buying cost results to a POSITIVE number. Positive = Profit
If you are okay with the sell proceeds, enter your COL PASSWORD to place sell order.
