How to Find Account Number of BPI ATM Card and What is JAI No?

Bank of the Philippine Islands or BPI is one of the most popular commercial banks that you can visit to open an account that comes with ATM cards.

If you already have your ATM card, and you want to know how to find your account number for your BPI savings or checking account, it’s very easy to locate.

Take out your BPI Express Teller ATM card and then just look at the back. The 10 numbers you can see on the white strip at the back of the ATM card is your account number.

Simple! 😀

find account number on bpi atm card

The number on the front of the card is the ATM card number, the number listed on the back is the BPI account number.

BPI ATM Card JAI Number Meaning and Location

Another info that you can learn from your BPI atm card is the JAI number. What does the JAI number mean?

Before we answer that, we advise you to check the front of the card on our sample. Did you see the two-digits number located at the bottom right corner?  The “21”?

“21” is the JAI number of this particular atm card from BPI. The account holder name is hidden behind the yellow strip.

On your atm card this is the format:

16 Digits ATM Card Number

“Account holder name JAI#”

JAI means “Joint Account Indicator”; there are designated JAI code per account type.

 JAI For Individual Depositors

01 – The first digit “0” refers to an individual account; the second number “1” means it’s the first atm card issued for a particular account.

02 – The first digit 0” means account is for single individual, while the second digit “2” means that the atm card is the second atm card issued for the account.

*Second issuance of ATM card for single depositors usually happens when you lost your card and requested replacement.

JAI for Joint “Or” Account

A depositor cannot request for an ATM card for “JOINT AND” accounts, since this type of account requires all signatories to sign in order to transact with the bank.

On the other hand, a “JOINT OR” account is allowed for atm card issuance.

JAI samples for joint accounts “OR”

21 – The account is a joint account “OR” hence the first number “2”, and this is the first atm card issued for this BPI account hence “1”.  Refer to sample picture.

22 – The account is a joint “or” account hence the first number “2”; the second number “2” means that the atm card is the second atm card issued for the savings / current account.

JAI number is needed when you enroll your account in BPI online banking.

Hope this article clears your confusion about where to find your BPI account number for atm cards and what is the joint account indicator or JAI.

Happy Banking!
